Tamil tens largely follow their base number with the suffix –படு or –பது. Once you know the ten, building a two-digit number is just “ten + ones” with a soft linking sound (-tti-).

Building combinations
For any number between 21 and 99, the modern colloquial pattern is <ten>-த்தி <ones>:
இருபது + ஒன்று → இருபத்தி ஒன்று (21) ·
முப்பது + மூன்று → முப்பத்தி மூன்று (33) ·
தொண்ணூறு + ஒன்பது → தொண்ணூற்றி ஒன்பது (99)
Notice how the trailing –து / –று of the ten doubles into –த்தி / –ற்றி when the ones attach. The exception is 50 = ஐம்பது, which already ends in –m; we say ஐம்பத்தி <ones>.
